COVID-19 Note

Please note that due to the COVID-19 global pandemic, President Trump declared a National
Emergency on March 13, 2020. We adhere to the most current guidance as it evolves. See
Appendix B. For verification of tax items, the DOE encourages students and parents to use the
IRS Data Retrieval Tool (DRT) as the fastest, simplest, and most secure way of meeting
verification requirements. The DRT is used to import data from tax returns If the DRT
availability becomes unreliable, in addition to IRS Tax Return Transcripts, DOE may issue
guidance allowing colleges to accept tax returns as acceptable documentation.
