Anthony "Tony" Newberry, Ph.D.

Dr. Tony Newberry has an extensive background in Kentucky’s community and technical colleges. With 40 years of experience, he served as a faculty member for 10 years and held two tenures totaling 18 years as a community college president in Louisville and Ashland. Additionally, he spent five years as the chief academic officer in the University of Kentucky Community College System and four years as the chancellor for community colleges in KCTCS. Notably, after the passage of the Kentucky Postsecondary Education Reform Act (HB1) in 1997, Dr. Newberry was one of the senior leaders responsible for launching KCTCS¹.

He holds a doctorate in history from Ohio University and received an honorary doctorate in public service from Spalding University. Dr. Newberry currently serves as an executive advisor at KCTCS, contributing his wealth of knowledge and experience to the system’s strategic goals
