Student Engagement
Student Engagement, Development and Success is a collaborative effort with all faculty and staff to promote a sense of community and to engage the students in the classroom as well as outside of the classroom to prepare students for personal and career success, ethical leadership, healthy and balanced lifestyles, and engaged citizenship with an appreciation of cultural differences.
Our department also provides leadership, support, and service to the KCTCS colleges aiming to strengthen access and success to our colleges' diverse student body while supporting the KCTCS Code of Student Conduct, and Learn on Demand student success.
Key Initiatives:
- Identify and promote innovative advising practices that support student success.
- Support college retention initiative by utilizing and promoting an early alert tracking software to assist with advising appointments, office hours, notifications, communications and college services offered (Starfish).
- Embrace new solutions and ever-evolving technology to provide new ways of offering service to both traditional and non-traditional students, including online learning models such as Learn on Demand.
- Promote a culture of trust, transparency, and positive regard for individuals of all backgrounds, ages, and learning differences from a community of student services professionals.
