Special Board of Regents Meeting

Call to Order:
KCTCS Board of Regents Parliamentarian and KCTCS General Counsel Pam Duncan called the special meeting to order at 4:32 p.m. (ET) on August 30, 2022. The meeting was held virtually via Microsoft TEAMS. The press was notified on August 25, 2022.
There being a quorum present, the meeting began.
Parliamentarian Duncan conducted the meeting in place of Chair Stevens due to the purpose of the meeting being Board Officer elections. There were no students participating as the Student Regent elections would occur on September 1. A motion was made to suspend election procedures, which lacked provisions for special elections. The motion passed unanimously.
KCTCS Board of Regents Officer Special Elections
Chair Election
Nominations: Regent Heerdink nominated Regent Stevens; Regent Whitten nominated Regent Fletcher. Both accepted. After speeches and questions:
- Votes for Regent Fletcher: 2.5
- Votes for Regent Stevens: 5.5
Regent Stevens was elected Chair.
Vice Chair Election
Nominations: Regent Finan nominated Regent Fletcher; Regent Heerdink nominated Regent Martin. Both accepted. After speeches and questions:
- Votes for Regent Fletcher: 3
- Votes for Regent Martin: 5
Regent Martin was elected Vice Chair.
Secretary Position
Regent Fletcher retained her position as Secretary without an election.
Adjournment:
Motion to adjourn made by Regent Heerdink, seconded by Regent Hamilton. Motion passed unanimously. Meeting adjourned at 5:17 p.m. (ET).
