New kiosk at KCTCS provides access to free services and resources

The lobby of the Kentucky Community and Technical College (KCTCS) office in Versailles is home to a new kiosk that links community members to free services.

The kiosk provides easy access to the MyKy.Info web-based app, which helps people find free community services across Kentucky. The app provides information about a service's location and hours, the specific resources available and eligibility requirements. Users remain anonymous but can filter information by gender, age, family status or other demographics.

Though MyKY.info can be used anywhere and anytime on a phone, computer or tablet, the free-standing kiosk gives people without access to those devices a way to find the information they need.

The kiosk is a partnership between KCTCS and Family Scholar House in Louisville. Recently, the first KCTCS kiosk was installed at Jefferson Community and Technical College. The plan is to have more than 150 kiosks available across the state by next July.

Family Scholar House's mission is to provide wraparound services for students to keep them in school despite life and financial challenges. All 16 KCTCS colleges have partnerships with Family Scholar House.

MyKy.Info is offered in English, Spanish, and soon, French. The app also connects users to crisis lines and safe places. Users also can request live help through the app to talk to available specialists at Family Scholar House.
