Jefferson Community and Technical College

Dr. Ty Handy

Dr. Ty J. Handy serves as the president of Jefferson Community and Technical College and is one of 16 college presidents who make up the Kentucky Community and Technical College System Leadership Team. Handy became Jefferson’s leader in 2016 and has more than 30 years of experience in higher education.

Among his numerous other leadership positions, Handy served as president of Northwest Florida State College, president of Vermont Technical College, chancellor at Ivy Tech Community College in southern Indiana and chief academic officer and dean for academic affairs at Elizabethtown Community and Technical College from 1993-1998.

Handy earned a doctoral degree in higher education administration from the University of Memphis. He earned a master's degree in business administration from Drexel University and a bachelor's degree in finance from Western Kentucky University.
