The Kentucky Community and Technical College System (KCTCS) and the Council on Postsecondary Education (CPE) are bringing together nearly 175 educators from across the state to discuss transfer opportunities for KCTCS students.

Transfer Summit 2.0 will be Wednesday at the KCTCS System Office in Versailles and involves the states universities as well as KCTCS colleges.The event will focus on programs that support industry sectors that have been identified as areas of need for Kentucky, which include sciences, technology/IT, engineering, nursing/allied health and transportation/supply chain management/logistics. The goals of the summit are to:

  • Identify local agreements that could be expanded to include all KCTCS colleges;
  • Identify potential agreements; and
  • Map new degree pathways.

Its important for our students to have the ability to transfer seamlessly to all of our four-year partners, said KCTCS Chancellor Rhonda Tracy. Having everyone in the same room discussing this and working through it in a collaborative manner is extremely beneficial. The main priority is our students, so our goal is to make transfer an easy process for them.

This meeting is a follow-up to the Transfer Summit held last summer at Bluegrass Community and Technical College. At that meeting, the current status of transfer, opportunities for improving transfer and obstacles were discussed.
