Gov. Steve Beshear has appointed Billie D. Hardin as a member of the Kentucky Environmental Education Council (KEEC), representing environmental interests. Hardin is the sustainability project manager for the Kentucky Community and Technical College System (KCTCS).

At KCTCS Hardin leads the KCTCS Green+ Initiative, a sustainability plan that includes energy efficiency and environmental conservation as primary goals. Hardin directs and supports the 16 KCTCS colleges and the System Office in establishing sustainable development strategies to foster responsible stewardship of social, economic, and environmental resources. Energy efficiency programs implemented at KCTCS facilities have received national recognition.

KEEC is a state agency within the Education amp; Workforce Development Cabinet, with a mission to help Kentuckians develop the skills necessary to solve current environmental problems, prevent new ones and maintain a balance between the economy and the environment for future generations.

In addition to KEEC, Hardin also serves on the United States Green Building Council Kentucky Chapters Advocacy Committee, the Kentucky Association of Environmental Education and the Interagency Task Force on Environmental Education. Hardins KEEC term ends October 5, 2018.
