KCTCS Board of Regents

KCTCS is governed by a 14-member Board of Regents. Eight members are appointed by the Governor and six are elected members; two teaching faculty elected by faculty, two nonteaching personnel (staff) elected by nonteaching personnel, and two students elected by students. KCTCS Board of Regents Audit Committee

The purpose of the Audit Committee is to assist the Board with its fiduciary duties in order to ensure the System’s financial integrity, its ethics and compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, and its risk assessment and management processes. Specifically, the Committee’s responsibilities shall be to: 

  • Receive and review internal audit reports with recommendations to be made, if necessary; and 
  • Receive and review external audit reports with recommendation to be made if necessary; and 
  • Address conflicts of interest should they arise.

The Audit Committee will operate under the provisions of the KCTCS Board of Regents Bylaws. 

MEMBERS

The Audit Committee shall consist of three (3) members of the Board as appointed by the Chair and two (2) non-Board members from the statewide community who meet qualifications for membership and are appointed by the Chair. Qualifications for membership for non-Board-members shall be defined as generally accepted finance, accounting, or business experience, particularly in the government sector, and understanding of these principles coupled with no existing conflicts of interest as it relates to the KCTCS Board of Regents and the System. 

Leadership of the Audit Committee shall be established by the Board Chair.

Meetings

The Audit Committee shall meet no less than bi-annually in conjunction with the regularly scheduled June and December meetings. Established meeting dates are as follows:

  • December 2, 2021
  • June 9, 2022

This position is a non-paid volunteer position, but travel will be reimbursed in accordance with KCTCS policy and meals are provided. Deadline to apply is Monday, November 15, 2021.
